What are aPhysio's operating hours and why do they vary?
Darren exclusively provides private consultations at aPhysio outside standard business hours as he now works full-time at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) as a Senior Physiotherapist.
He typically offers evening sessions during the week, but the hours on offer can vary if he is travelling interstate or overseas for sporting competitions.
You can see Darren’s upcoming availability using the online booking function on this website. If you are unable to find a suitable appointment time then please contact us directly and we will do our best to try and find a mutually available time.
How much is a consultation?
Both initial and review consultations are $125.
If you require a longer consultation (for example, if you have two separate areas of concern) then please contact the clinic to book an extended session.
Do I need a referral?
No. Physiotherapists in Australia are primary care givers; hence you will not need a referral from your GP to make an appointment.
What payment methods are accepted?
You can pay with cash, eftpos or credit card (Visa/Mastercard).
This can be done after you have claimed your private health rebate if you are doing so, in which case you will just pay any gap remaining.
Can I claim my private health insurance rebate immediately?
Yes. aPhysio has a HICAPS terminal allowing for instant rebate claiming, just bring your health insurance card with you.
HICAPS supports 100% of Australia’s Private Health Insurers, so it is very likely you will be able to claim your rebate instantly.
The amount you can claim will depend on your health fund.
Is there a cancellation fee/policy?
Yes. If you do not show up to an appointment or cancel an appointment within 4 hours you will be charged 50% of the consultation fee.
Why doesn’t aPhysio offer manipulation?
It is Darren’s belief that any possible benefits from manipulation do not outweigh the risks. Darren has been returning people to full health for years without the need for manipulation.
Why doesn’t aPhysio offer ultrasound/electrotherapy?
There is little evidence as to the benefits of electrotherapy. It is Darren’s belief that anything that could be achieved with ultrasound/electrotherapy is much more efficiently achieved with hands on treatment and exercises.
