The aPhysio philosophy is for every patient to receive active treatment depending on their needs, whether that be hands on treatment, exercise based treatment or both. This philosophy leads to the quickest return to your chosen sport or occupation with long term resolution of symptoms.
Every aPhysio session will be around 30 minutes in duration. This allows time to
- Get a comprehensive understanding of your symptoms
- Explain to you your injury and its underlying cause
- Formulate a plan to get you back to health as quickly as possible
- Perform a treatment and explain your home exercise program.
aPhysio offers the following treatment options:
Manual Therapy
Joint mobilisation
Massage
Trigger point therapy
Myofascial release
Rehabilitation
Muscle strengthening
Motor control retraining
Post-operative protocols
Return to running programs
Advanced return to high level sport protocols
Assessment and Diagnosis
Dry Needling
Thanks to having previously worked in the AFL for 14 years (including as Head Physiotherapist for the North Melbourne Football Club), Darren has gained vast experience in the following areas of the body:
- Hip/groin
- Ankle
- Lower limb muscle injuries (especially hamstring and calf)
- Shoulder
- Upper back/neck pain (especially postural related pain)
While proficient in many areas, no one physio can be an expert in all fields. At aPhysio we want every patient to get back to full health as quickly as possible. Hence for certain injuries/conditions there are other physios better suited to address your needs. Specifically those being:
- Late stage pregnancy issues
- Women’s health
- Vertigo/dizziness
- Jaw pain (Temporomandibular joint)
We are happy to make recommendations for physios in these areas if needed.
